I heard that it has a browser but that the practicality of using it is pretty limited because it's so hard to type.

Yeah, you can - as long as you are in an area with cell phone coverage you can download books. If you are in a remote location the speed will be a little slower but it still doesn't take more than a minute or so to download a whole book.

from what i hear, the nook has wifi and 3g (kindle only has sprint) you can loan books from a nook to an iphone or other nook or pc, and B

Has anybody actually seen the nook in action? I'm afraid all the images I've seen of it are just photoshoped mockups.

If it's really as cool as it looks I'm not going to bother with a Kindle, I just want to see the real thing in action.

I'm sure by now they have working prototypes that they are using for these marketing photos. It would be really irresponsible to use really doctored photos this close to launch.
