"Category killer," "more functionality than the kindle," "better aesthetics than the sony reader," "the nook is destined for greatness" - are you guys high?

The nook is a kindle-killer like the blackberry storm is an iphone-killer - it isn't.

Who is better poised than Amazon (a technology company) to succeed with a device that requires complex DRM management, digital content delivery, etc.? Some crappy brick and mortar?

Get real.

Barnes and Noble said $259 - not a bad pricetag for an ereader these days.

I would expect a lot more price pressure now that there are a few different alternatives out there.

Amazon already cut their price to meet the nook - it looks like they're scared.

Is Amazon going to sell the Nook themselves like they do the Sony Reader?

I doubt it - I think this is going to be fiercely competitive and they wouldn't sell a device which threatens their own sales (I don't think the sony reader does).
